Filo Fruit Stacks

For Phyllo:

  • 4 sheets phyllo pastry
  • ¾ stick butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar

For Filling:

  • ¼ stick butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup dried apricots, chopped
  • ¼ cup dried prunes, chopped
  • ¼ cup dried dates, chopped
  • ¼ cup dark raisins
  • 2 small apples, cored and chopped
  • ½ cup nuts (rough chopped)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

For phyllo:

Begin by melting the butter.  Place a sheet of phyllo on a clean work service, butter it well and sprinkle with sugar Repeat same process with each piece of phyllo.

Cut the sheets equally into 8 pieces and bake in 350 degree oven until golden brown


In large skillet over medium high heat, add butter, chopped apple and cinnamon, stir well and let cook for approximately two minutes, add dates, apricots, prunes, raisins, walnuts and sugar, mix well and continue cooking until browned and caramelized


Place 1 piece of filo crisp on bottom, top with spoonful of filling, top with another filo crisp and repeat making 4 stacks….sprinkle with powedered sugar and enjoy!
